### The destination postal code affects UPS Standard rates

UPS Standard Delivery to Canada and Mexico is zone-based, which means the distance your package needs to travel once it's inside the destination country will affect how much it costs to ship. While the rate calculator can give you a rough idea, to get an exact quote you'll need to create a free Pirate Ship account and get a quote with the full address.

### Keep your packages as small as possible to avoid dimensional weight pricing

When your packages are large but relatively lightweight, you may be subject to dimensional weight (or “DIM” weight). [Learn more about dimensional weight here](https://support.pirateship.com/en/articles/4442356-what-is-dimensional-dim-weight-pricing).
